Coolspend privacy policy
Last updated October 26, 2026 (payments added)
Coolspend is a browser extension and web inbox that pauses you at checkout, asks why you're buying, and shares your answer with people you choose. This page explains what it stores, who can see it, and how to delete it.
What Coolspend stores
- Your account: your email address, the name you give, and your time zone. If you sign in with Google or Apple, the sign-in service also keeps the name and profile picture link they provide; Coolspend itself uses only your email address.
- Your rules: your settings, such as your approval limit and the sites you skip.
- People you add: the email address and role of each subscriber and approver you invite, and whether they accepted.
- Your browsers: the name you give each browser, the Coolspend version, and when it last checked in (every 30 minutes while it's open).
- Checkouts: when you click a checkout button and answer, Coolspend saves your reason, the items and total from the page, the site, and the page address without its query string. Walking away is recorded the same way.
- Inbox alerts: a copy of each alert for each person it's meant for.
- Logs: a record of rule changes, sign-ins and sign-outs, and the emails sent, used to enforce limits.
- Coolspend Plus: if you pay for it, Stripe's customer and subscription ids for your account, the subscription's status and when it renews. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach Coolspend.
Coolspend doesn't read or send anything from the pages you browse until you click a checkout, place order or buy now button. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it never sells or shares your data for marketing.
Who can see it
- You can see all of your own data on the settings page.
- People you invite see only what you share with them, once they accept: your reasons, items and totals, and your monthly summary. Approvers also see your current rules, approval requests, and notices when a browser goes quiet, signs out or has Coolspend removed.
- Nobody else. Each account can only read its own data, and the server checks who's asking before showing anything.
Emails
Coolspend sends sign-in codes, invites, a short daily note when there are new alerts (it says how many and from whom, never what they say), and your own monthly summary. The details of your shopping are shown in the app, not in email. You can turn the daily note down to "only when something needs me" in the inbox. The monthly summary is only emailed if you turn that on in settings.

Deleting your data
Press Delete my account at the bottom of the Coolspend settings page (cancel Coolspend Plus first, so you aren't charged again; Stripe keeps its own payment records). Your approvers are told, then your account and everything the server holds for you is deleted. Removing the extension deletes what it kept in your browser.
Children
Coolspend isn't meant for children under 13.
